Dear OSG Families,
Our OSG Weekly Update is sent out once a week to provide you with the most up to date information on what is happening at O. S. Geiger School.
It was wonderful to see all families that were able to come for our Open House on Thursday! Our first formal conference time with teachers will be in November, however, if you ever need to connect with your child’s teacher, please email them at any time and they will reply as soon as they are able.
Please read on for important updates and information.
OSG Shirts Available to Order
The online store for ordering O.S. Geiger school shirts is open again for this fall. Both youth and adult sizes are available in t-shirts, long sleeve shirts, and sweaters. School shirts are a great way to show your Geiger Tiger pride and school spirit, though it is completely optional whether families want to order or not. If you are choosing to buy a school shirt, orders must be placed and paid for online no later Friday, October 2nd at 11:00 PM and will be delivered to the school and handed out to students at the end of October.

Orange Shirt Day - Tuesday, September 29
Please join us in wearing orange on Tuesday, September 29. Students will spend time learning about the history of the residential school system and will honour Indigenous people in recognition of the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation on Wednesday, September 30.
Kindergarten Eye See...Eye Learn Program
Eye See…Eye Learn™ is a program that provides kindergarten-aged children in Alberta with an eye exam from an optometrist. If required, kindergarten children also receive a free pair of eyeglasses.
Eye See…Eye Learn™ is available to all kindergarten children in Alberta. It’s important to address eye health and vision problems before children begin school. Children are eligible from now until they begin Grade 1. Parents can begin by selecting a participating Eye See…Eye Learn™ optometrist.

Lunchroom Registration
All students that stay at school for lunch are required to be registered for the lunch supervision service.
Students are not required to remain at school over the lunch period, but for any Grade K-6 students who stay at school over the lunch period, the CBE provides a mandatory lunch supervision service. Students in these grades must be supervised (see Administrative Regulation 3048 – Noon Services and the Education Act for more details), and the lunch supervision fees cover the related supervision costs.
Lunch supervision registration continues throughout the year and payments can only be accepted once students are registered.
You can register and pay using your MyCBE parent account. Fees for the 2026-27 school year will be posted mid-October.
The CBE has a waiver process for families who are unable to afford to pay the fees.
Please visit the CBE Lunch Supervision website page for more information on fees and how to register.
No Gum at School
Please be sure your child is not bringing gum to school as it is not permitted at school. Also, while a small treat is acceptable to pack in school lunches, please remind your child to leave large amounts of candy at home and that we do not share candy or any food with friends.
