Dear OSG Families,

Our OSG Weekly Update is sent out once a week to provide you with the most up to date information on what is happening at O. S. Geiger School.

On Friday morning, we had our first Community Friday for the 2026-27 school year. Community Friday is a special time at our school when each class buddies up with another class in the school to build relationships and engage in learning connected to our commitment to Truth and Reconciliation, focusing on the values of respect, reciprocity and responsibility. Students reflected on and made statements about how they feel they belong as an individual and how others help them belong. Their belonging statements were placed in a paper heart to capture and honour these relationships with one another.

Please read on for important information and updates.

Student Code of Conduct

At OSG and all CBE schools, we are focused on promoting positive learning environments for each student and helping students learn how to develop empathy and become good citizens both within and outside of the school community.

Please take time to review the Student Code of Conduct with your child to ensure everyone knows and understands how to make sure everyone at school feels safe. This Administrative Regulation outlines Student Responsibilities for Promoting Positive Behaviours as well as Unacceptable Student Behaviours. How schools respond to unacceptable behaviours and consequences of unacceptable behaviour are detailed in this important regulation as well.

School Council Monday

Our next School Council meeting will be the Annual General Meeting and will be held tomorrow Monday, October 5. The meeting is at the school OR online at 6:00 PM-7:00 PM. If you choose to attend online, please use this link School Council meeting link.  All parents are welcome to attend monthly School Council meetings to learn about the school, learn about the learning across each grade and to provide feedback to the administration so we can make OSG the best place for learning for your children.

Please note – these meetings are with the school administration and not with your child’s teacher.

Dogs on School Grounds

We would like to remind our school community that dogs are prohibited on school grounds in accordance with the City of Calgary's Responsible Pet Ownership Bylaw. We thank you for adhering to this bylaw and keeping all our students safe.

Playground Supervision

Supervision is provided on the playground between 7:45 AM – 8:00 AM and at lunchtime. Students using the playground after 2:30 PM are assumed to have parental permission and are therefore responsible for their own safety.
