Dear OSG Families,

Pancake Breakfast

On Friday, September 13, we are excited that the Rotary International organization is providing students a welcome back breakfast at the school, during school hours. Students will have the option of choosing pancakes or beef sliders. We are working with the Rotary organizers to confirm any potential allergens and will share more information about this prior to Friday.

School Council MeetingTomorrow

We will be having our first School Council meeting tomorrow, Monday, Sept. 9 at 6:00 PM. You can join either at the school in-person or online using this link Join the meeting now

School Council meetings are a wonderful opportunity to meet with other parents and guardians and school administration to learn more about our school and provide suggestions and feedback about how we can improve. We are also seeking volunteers to join the School Council executive.

Required Online Forms Due by Sept 16

Each year, schools have a variety of forms that parents/legal guardians are required to complete or review and update, some of which are paper and others online. In CBE, the forms in an online format (SchoolEngage) are:

·       Demographic Verification - 2024-25 – This form includes your child’s personal information as well as parent / legal guardian contact information.

·       Citizenship Information Update - 2024-25 – This form becomes available if you change your child’s citizenship information on the Demographic Verification form.

·       Annual Authorization - 2024-25 – Combines the following forms:

·       School District Use of Personal Information - explains how CBE uses personal information in providing education services.

·       Consent for CBE Use of Student Information – provides an option to grant / not grant consent for additional use of student information by school/district and third parties.

·       Consent for Use of Student Information by News Media and Outside Groups (Third Party) - provides an option to grant / not grant consent for additional use of student information by outside groups and third parties

SchoolEngage is one of the applications found in your MyCBE account. This is the same account that you use to pay fees, view academic information, book school conferences, register to volunteer etc.

If you do not have a MyCBE account, on the MyCBE page click on Create a MyCBE Account. For online help refer, to MyCBE - Creating an Account (includes instructions and a video).

To complete these forms:

1.     sign in to your MyCBE account

2.     click on the SchoolEngage icon

3.     select the form

4.     complete or review and update the form

5.     click on Submit to send the form electronically to the school

6.     repeat steps 3-5 for each form

Please submit the Demographic Verification and Annual Authorization forms in SchoolEngage for your child by Monday, September 16.  These forms are mandatory every year for Alberta Education to confirm student funding.

Noon Hour Lunchroom Supervision Registration and Fee

Students that stay at school for lunch must be registered for Lunchroom Supervision. Please sign in to your MyCBE account to register your child for this service.

While you will register now for Noon Hour Lunchroom Supervision, the fees for this service will not be requested until October. The Lunchroom Supervision fee applies to all students in grades K through 6 who stay at school for lunch. Please call the office if you require assistance with registration or if you have any questions.

Concerned That You Cannot Afford to Pay School Fees?

No child is ever denied access to an education at the CBE due to their family's inability to pay. The CBE offers a Central Fee Waiver which is based upon income level and covers the following central fees: Yellow School Bus Transportation, Noon Hour Supervision Service and Student Supplies fee. Please log into your MyCBE account to complete the 2024/2025 Central Fee Waiver Application or contact the office for assistance.

Traffic Safety and Patrols

Please note the bus zone at the front of the school when dropping off and picking up students. There is NO PARKING in the bus zone. There is ample parking space farther down by the playground.

For the safety of children and families, the parking lot is for staff only. There is no drop off or pick up in the staff parking lot.

At O.S. Geiger, we are proud to have an award winning patrol team that supports families to safely cross the street each morning and after school. Remember to use the patrolled cross walk each time you and your child cross the street and follow the school zone speed limit when driving in front of the school and playground.
