Dear OSG Families,
Thank you for all of your support this past week to help make our start up a huge success. Students are settling into their new classrooms as they learn routines and develop important relationships with their teacher and classmates.
Each week, we will send a weekly update email to families to share OSG and CBE news and key upcoming dates to note. Please respond to these emails, if needed, with any questions you may have as well. In addition to this email from the administration, you will also receive weekly emails from your child’s teacher, providing you with updates and information about their specific classroom. This is an opportunity for you to learn what your child is learning at school and what is upcoming.
Required Forms
Please log into your MyCBE account to access the School Engage application to complete the following 3 forms that are REQUIRED for each of your children. If you do not have a MyCBE account, on the MyCBE page, click on Create a MyCBE Account. For online help, refer to MyCBE - Creating an Account (includes instructions and a video).
The online forms found in SchoolEngage include:
· Demographic Verification - 2025-26 – This required form is an Alberta Education requirement as proof of Registration for funding purposes and includes your child’s personal information as well as parent / legal guardian contact information.
· Citizenship Information Update - 2025-26 – This form becomes available if you change your child’s citizenship information on the Demographic Verification form.
· Annual Authorization - 2025-26 – Combines the following forms:
· School District Use of Personal Information - explains how CBE uses personal information in providing education services.
· Consent for CBE Use of Student Information – provides an option to grant / not grant consent for additional use of student information by school/district and third parties.
· Consent for Use of Student Information by News Media and Outside Groups (Third Party) - provides an option to grant / not grant consent for additional use of student information by outside groups and third parties
To complete these forms:
1. sign in to your MyCBE account
2. click on the SchoolEngage icon
3. select the form
4. complete or review and update the form
5. click on Submit to send the form electronically to the school
6. repeat steps 3-5 for each form
Traffic Reminders
The beginning of the year is a great time to review traffic safety before and after school to ensure all students and families are safe each day.
1. Remember to use the patrolled crosswalk each time you are crossing the street.
2. The parking lot is NOT for student drop off and pick up and is for staff only. There are often children walking in the parking lot and it is very unsafe for cars to enter during these times.
3. The street in front of the school is reserved for school buses. There is no parking in the bus zone.
School Council
We are excited to have our first School Council meeting on Monday, September 8. The meeting is at the school OR online at 6:00 PM-7:00 PM. All parents and guardians are welcome to attend monthly School Council meetings to learn about the school, hear about the learning happening across each grade and to provide feedback to the administration so we can make OSG the best place for learning for your children. Please note – these meetings are with the school administration and other parents/guardians and not with your child’s teacher.
Photo Days
On September 23 and 24, Lifetouch photographers will be at the school to take individual photos of each student. You will then have the option to purchase photos from Lifetouch. You will soon be emailed more information about which of the 2 days your child’s class will have their photos taken. Photo retakes, if needed, will be on October 29.
Open House
On September 25 from 4:30 PM-6:30 PM, you are invited to attend a Welcome Back to School Open House at the school. On September 18, you will be able to sign up for a time slot to come to the school on September 25 to visit your child’s classroom, meet their teacher and tour the school. More information about signing up for this event will be emailed soon.
