Terry Fox Run

Here is a special message from our Terry Fox planning team:

Dear Parents/Caregivers:

We would like to announce that our school will be proudly taking part in the 2025 Terry Fox School Run, scheduled to take place on Friday, September 26 at 10:30am. We are excited to share this community activity with the students of O.S Geiger.

This year's Terry Fox Challenge will be to raise $1000 at O.S Geiger School. We are encouraging each student to bring a ‘Toonie for Terry’ or any other donation amount for which it is greatly appreciated! Students who are unable to bring in donations are still welcome to participate in the event. If you do send a donation, please have the student give the money to his/her classroom teacher and the money will be donated to the Terry Fox Foundation to support finding a cure for cancer.

We look forward to this event every year and thank you for taking part to make it a success! Terry Fox was a truly remarkable individual and his legacy continues to inspire countless Canadians. To be a part of his legacy, we are helping to raise awareness for cancer research as it is an honour we hold dear.

Sincerely,

O.S Geiger Physical Education and Wellness Committee

Orange Shirt Day

This year, OSG will be honouring Orange Shirt Day at school on October 1 as we do not have school on the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation. All students, families and staff are invited to wear orange on this day to raise awareness about the intergenerational impacts of residential schools on children, families, and communities. It honours Indigenous children who were lost in the residential school system.

The orange shirt symbolizes the loss of culture, freedom, and self-esteem that many Indigenous children experienced. This day reminds us that “Every Child Matters”.
