Dear OSG Families,

We had our first Community Friday this week! During this time, each class collaborates with a buddy class to learn ways to move forward in our Commitment to Truth and Reconciliation. This year, we are focusing on the values of Respect, Reciprocity and ways to be Responsible toward ourselves, each other, the school and the land.

As part of this important work, classes are reading the book “Thunder’s Hair” written by Jessie Taken Alive-Rencountre. This is the story of a boy named Thunder who is tired of other students who bother him because of his long hair. Thunder’s grandmother reminds him of the power of having long hair. This story provides us with an important lesson about how important it is to be respectful toward to others.
