Dear OSG Families,

Friday was a beautiful day for classes to engage in Community Friday activities with their buddy classes. They reviewed that Treaty 7 was signed in 1877 at Blackfoot Crossing in southern Alberta.

It was an agreement between:

  • The Canadian government, and
  • Several First Nations, including:
  • Tsuut’ina Nation
  • Siksika Nation
  • Kainai Nation
  • Piikani Nation
  • Stoney Nakoda Nations (Bearspaw, Chiniki, Goodstoney)

Students then explored learning about the Tsuut’ina Nation and the Tsuut'ina Dene language. Did you know that The name Tsuut’ina means “many people”?

We also learned Tsuut’ina greeatings, such as:

Danit’ada - 1 person to 1 person - “How are you?”

Danast’ada - 1 person on 2 - “How are you two?”

Dadanast’ada - 1 person to many - “How are all of you?”

Classes then had fun playing games to help us learn more of the language.

Important Transportation- Bussing Information for Cornerstone, EES & PLP Families

Bus registration is required every year. Even if your child already rides the bus this year, you are required to register again for the 2026-27 school year.

Cornerstone Families and Families of EES and PLP students: Families are now able to apply for yellow school bus service for the 2026-27 school year. Service levels and fees are outlined below. Registration is available through your MyCBE account. (If you do not already have an account, learn how.)

Families must apply by Sunday, June 14, 2026 for students to be added to routes for the start of the next school year. We continue to accept registrations after the deadline; however, students are added to the closest existing bus stop with available space. Processing times for registrations submitted after the June 14 deadline will be delayed. It may take until mid-October before your child is able to ride the bus.

Confirmed routes will be posted in MyCBE in August.
